Water Damage Repair

What do you do when the ceiling falls down?

You will probably panic! Imagine your ceiling is sagging and part of it has collapsed all over your floor. Your carpet is saturated under foot and it is raining from the flat above. There is an awful mess, your furniture appears to be ruined and your neighbour upstairs is completely oblivious and doesn’t know anything about what is happening to your flat. Obviously the first thing you’re going to do is run up the stairs, bang on their door and beg them to look for a water leak which is somewhere above your room which is damaged.

Hopefully, now your neighbour knows there’s a leak it’s obvious and they can immediately isolate it by turning off the water supply, prior to calling a qualified emergency plumber to repair the leak. Now you should be calming a little and thinking about what you need to do next? Obviously there’s a lot of clearing up to do but before you start, take some images of the damage to show your insurance company. Now call your insurance company. When you have called them, remove any damp or wet soft furnishings, such as cushions, curtains and carpets and move them somewhere warm to dry.

The insurance company may ask you to call a water damage restoration specialist, such as Tapco HomeDry, to  carry out a survey, report on the extent of the damage and produce a report for their consideration. Our qualified damp and timber surveyors will carry out a detailed survey using a Thermal Imaging Camera and calibrated damp meter, taking images of all damaged areas. Following the insurance companies approval, we will install industrial dehumidifiers and warm air fans to produce rapid drying prior to commencing the restoration work. The insurance company will possibly appoint a loss adjuster to assess the damage and on agreement with our recommendations they will confirm their liability for paying for the work. Following this Tapco HomeDry’s very experienced water damage restoration specialists will carry out the complete restoration work to a highest possible standard and get you back to normal as quickly as possible.

Tapco HomeDry has been established since 1971 and are long term members of the Property Care Association (PCA) and Trust Mark (Government Endorsed Standards) so don’t compromise, call us first.
