Basement Conversion. A Cavity Drain Membrane System:

If you live in a property that’s encountered issues with damp basement or cellar, then you’ll already how frustrating it is that you have space but can’t use it. Worse still, the damp can lead to health problems for you and your family. You can utilise that wasted space and add value to your property. The best way is to carry out damp proofing to the damp rooms using a Cavity Drain Membrane system, which will keep your new room dry for many years to come..

Here are some of the things you should to know about a Cavity Drain Membrane System and why this is the perfect solution solution for your home.

Where Is The Cavity Drain Membrane System Fitted?

The Cavity Drain Membrane is designed for use in the basement, cellar or vault of your property. It is a high density Polyethylene, studded membrane which installed to all of the walls, floors and if necessary, the ceilings of the room or rooms to be converted. In most cases a special drainage channel will also be installed to a divert water into a sump chamber and pump to be pumped outside.

How does a Cavity Drain Membrane system work?

A Cavity Drain Membrane system is designed to allow moisture in, behind the membrane, so it can be diverted and discharged to where we want it to go, unlike Structural Water proofing (Tanking) which blocks the incoming moisture. The system can then be dry lined or plastered directly onto, although this needs to be decided, prior to commencement of the installation. If there is no natural drainage, then we will install a sump chamber and pump. This will be used to discharge the moisture away from the property and transfer it to an external drain or area chosen by us. A Cavity Drain Membrane sysyem will keep your new rooms dry and warmer for many years to come.
