Experts in Water Damage Restoration in London and the Home Counties Since 1971

Water damage can happen without warning, from a burst pipe, leaking roof, flood, overflowing bath or failed appliance. Acting quickly is the best way to limit structural damage, prevent mould and protect your property.

Tapco HomeDry has been helping homeowners, landlords and businesses recover from water damage since 1971.

Common causes of water damage

  • Burst or leaking water pipes
  • Flooding and heavy rainfall
  • Roof leaks and blocked or damaged gutters
  • Overflowing baths, sinks and showers
  • Washing machine and dishwasher leaks
  • Heating system failures
  • Hidden plumbing leaks inside walls and floors

Why proper drying matters

Water doesn’t simply evaporate. It becomes trapped inside walls, floors, screeds and structural timbers, where it can cause secondary problems long after the surface looks dry. Professional drying helps to:

  • Prevent mould growth
  • Reduce the risk of wet rot and dry rot
  • Protect plaster, decorations, flooring and finishes
  • Minimise structural movement
  • Shorten the time until rooms can be reinstated
  • Improve indoor air quality

Our water damage restoration process

  1. Assess

We find where the water has travelled using moisture meters and readings, and identify materials that can be saved.

  2. Dry

Specialist drying equipment is installed, and moisture levels are monitored and recorded until the structure is dry.

  3. Check for secondary damage

As damp and timber specialists, we inspect for wet rot, salts and other problems that general contractors might miss.

  4. Repair and reinstate

Damaged plaster, timber and flooring are replaced and your rooms are put back as they were.

Working with your insurer

We are insurance approved and can deal with your insurance company and loss adjuster on your behalf, with moisture records that clearly document the drying. As one of our clients put it, they “dealt with my insurance company who paid me in full”.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do immediately after a leak?

If it is safe, turn off the water at the stop tap and switch off electrics in affected areas. Move valuables away from the water, take photos for your insurer, and call us.

Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes. We are insurance approved and can work directly with your insurer and loss adjuster, which takes much of the stress out of the process.

How long will drying take?

It depends on the materials and how much water was involved. We record moisture readings throughout and only start repairs when they confirm the structure is dry.

Can I just repaint once it looks dry?

Surfaces can look dry while plaster, screeds and timber underneath are still wet. Decorating too early often leads to mould, blistering and timber decay.
