Tapco HomeDry are London, Surrey and the Home Counties leading damp proofing and dry rot specialists who have been trading for over 44 years. We were recently called to a property in Walton-on-Thames to investigate a damaging black mould fungus (Aspergillus Spp) and condensation problem.

Our fully qualified Surveyor found this to be affecting several wall surfaces including the external walls of the bathroom and bedroom.

Apart from damaging wall surfaces, clothes and furnishings it can result in infestations of House Dust Mites and very expensive Wet and Dry Rot attacks. Further health issues can also arise especially for young children and sufferers of asthma and allergies, resulting from inhaling mould and fungal spores.

Reason for Condensation

Our Tapco HomeDry Surveyor’s report explained to the home owner that Condensation and Black Mould Fungus are often caused by warm, moist air migrating from kitchens and bathrooms into cold and insufficiently ventilated rooms, drying washing and not opening windows. This will mainly affect the internal surfaces of external walls, inside closed wardrobes, cupboards, and behind large items of furniture.

Tapco HomeDry Condensation Solution

At Tapco HomeDry we have a range of condensation control systems which are designed to improve the air quality and control condensation.

Our condensation control systems consist of two types of Positive Input Ventilation (PIV Condensation Control Unit CCU) which can be installed in the loft of the property, if applicable, or installed through the wall, decentralized Mechanic Extract Ventilation (dMEV) and Passive Vapour Vents (PVV).

In cold weather when the air temperature drops below 10C our systems automatically use a cost-effective pulse heating system to warm the filtered incoming air, costing less than three pence a day to operate. Our systems are covered by a 5 year manufacturer’s guarantee.

The solution for the property in Walton-on-Thames was for our Tapco HomeDry Operatives to immediately install a wall mounted Condensation Control Unit (CCU) in the living room and a Passive Vapour Vent in the bedroom.

If you’ve spotted a condensation or damp problem in your home call Tapco HomeDry on 0800 195 9878 for a timber and damp survey. Members of the Property Care Association (PCA) and British Damage Management Association (BDMA), we are the people to trust with your property.
