Structural Waterproofing in Buckinghamshire

Looking for a structural waterproofing expert in Buckinghamshire? Tapco Homedry are your local experts in structural waterproofing methods for homes and businesses. Structural waterproofing is often completed during construction, but older properties may have missed out on this essential step, and methods are known to fail in newer properties. The good news is that it is possible to retrofit structural waterproofing methods after a property has been built. This means we can update waterproofing methods and protect your Buckinghamshire property from damp.

To help protect your home from water ingress, which can lead to damp, mould, mildew and structural damage, we recommend waterproofing methods are regularly reviewed and updated. This is often an essential step before converting a space like your basement or cellar into a functional living space. Without structural waterproofing, your new living space will be at risk of mould and mildew.

What is structural waterproofing?

Structural waterproofing is simply the process of making a structure watertight. There are a variety of methods we can use to achieve this goal. We can use a thick waterproofing slurry that adheres to walls and floors and then cures into an impermeable layer. We can also apply waterproof membranes that will direct water into channels where it can then be pumped out of your home.

Not every method is right for every space, so we start with a comprehensive survey to determine what waterproofing methods are already in place. We also look at the area surrounding your home to be able to identify risk factors that are unique to your property. From here, we can form a comprehensive plan that puts you in complete control.

What are the benefits of structural waterproofing?

One of the biggest benefits of structural waterproofing is the possibility of uncovering more space in your home. If you have an unfinished basement or cellar in your Buckinghamshire property, and you can’t use it because of damp, mould and mildew, we can help. By waterproofing your basement space, you can move forward with plans for a conversion with absolute confidence.

Another benefit to this process is that it can help to maintain the structural integrity of your home. All properties are at risk of water ingress, so by investing in structural waterproofing methods, you can avoid the risks associated with rising and penetrating damp.

What’s involved in the structural waterproofing process?

The methods we use will vary depending on the space you would like us to address and any existing measures that are in place. For basements and cellars, the most common method is to apply a waterproofing slurry to the walls and floor. This is cured and then you can apply floor treatments and rendering over the top. The result is a dry and secure basement space that is ready for a complete conversion.

We can also use a method of tanking that utilises waterproof membranes that allow water through the walls and floors but then traps it in channels to prevent it from coming into the room. This moisture can then be pumped out of the property to prevent water build up that could damage your external structure.
